Waleed Serhan is a sociologist with an interest in migration, ethnic relations and conflict, and social movements. He obtained his PhD in Sociology from the University of Dublin, Trinity College Dublin in 2015; and his MSc in Globalization and Social Justice from the University of Glasgow in 2007. Prior to pursuing an academic career, Waleed worked in NGOs operating among the Palestinian refugee community in Lebanon for several years, and as a research assistant at the United Nations Development Programme in Lebanon. He is currently, as part of this project, researching identity and nation-building.
